משטרת כרמיאל מטילה מעצר בית של שלושה ימים על החבר ג'מיל צפורי
ביום ראשון, ה-24.10.2004 בשעה 6 בערב, משטרת כרמיאל עצרה את מכוניתו של ג'מיל צפורי, חבר הלשכה הפוליטית של תנועת אבנאא אלבלד, ליד היישוב מג'ד אלכרום. המשטרה ערכה חיפוש מדוקדק במכונית, והחרימה עותקים של כתב העתן "אלג'יל אלג'דיד" שהיו בה. החבר ג'מיל ספורי נלקח אל משטרת כרמיאל, שם נחקר באשמת "החזקת חומר הסתה", קרי כתב העת "אלג'יל אלג'דיד".
החבר ג'מיל הסביר לשוטרים כי הירחון "אלג'יל אלג'דיד" יוצא לאור ע"י עמותת אלג'יל אלג'דיד הרשומה כחוק אצל רשם העמותות ומחזיקה ברשיון לפרסום כתב עת. קצין המשטרה התעקש להחרים את כל העותקים ולשלוח את החבר ג'מיל למעצר בית למשך 5 ימים שבמהלכם תבדק חוקיותו של כתב העת.
בבוקר יום ב' התקשר עורך-הדין ווקים ווקים למשטרת כרמיאל כדי לרדת לפרטי העניין, ונענה שהחוברות נשלחו לבדיקה. בעקבות דרישת עורך הדין הסכים הקצין האחראי לקצר את מעצר הבית לשלושה ימים. יש לציין כי משטרת שפעמר עצרה את החבר ג'מיל צפורי לפני שבועים באשמת הלנת פועלים מהגדה המערבית – האשמות שבוטלו אחרי שחברנו בילה לילה במעצר במשטרת שפרעם.

Comrade Jamil Saffouri Condemned to 3 Days of House Arrest
The police of Karmiel (in the Galilee) stopped on Sunday, October 24, near the town of Majd el-Kouroum, the car of comrade Jamil Saffouri, a member of the central committee of the movement Abnaa al-Balad.
After a meticulous search within the vehicle, where they found issues of the magazine "al-Jil al-Jadid" (the movement youth's organ), comrade Saffouri was taken to the police station of Karmiel and interrogated for carrying "incriminatory" material, i.e. the issues of the magazine dedicated to the Palestine youth.
Comrade Saffouri explained that the magazine is published by an association with the same name, which is a legal and registered organization, and that the magazine appears legally. But the police officer insisted in confiscating all the issues of the magazine and in condemning comrade Saffouri to five days of house arrest, arguing that the police was going to conduct a legal examination of the magazine and its contents.
On Monday morning, lawyer Wakim Wakim contacted the Karmiel police officer in order to know the details of the case. The officer said that the contents of eth magazine were being analyzed, but agreed to reduce the period of house arrest to three days.
The Shafa'Amr police had already arrested comrade Saffouri two weeks ago, accusing him of housing West Bank workers. He was then freed after spending the night in prison.
We condemn the detention and house arrest of comrade Saffouri, as well as the policy of persecutions against the comrades of the Abnaa al-Balad movement, and we reject the policy of terror, intimidation and lack of freedom of expression. We demand that the confiscated magazines be returned as well as the closing of all the legal proceedings.
Let the police examine the legality of the association and of the magazine before adopting illegal measures that have no other aim but to terrorize and suppress the freedom of expression.
Detención domiciliaria por tres días del camarada Jamil Saffouri
La policía de Karmiel (en la Galilea) detuvo el domingo 24 de octubre, cerca del pueblo de Majd el-Kouroum, el automóvil del camarada Jamil Saffouri, miembro del comit頣entral del movimiento Abnaa al-Balad.
Luego de una búsqueda minuciosa dentro del vehículo, y despu鳠de haber encontrado números de la revista "al-Jil al-Jadid" (órgano de la juventud del movimiento), fue conducido a la estación de policía de Karmiel e interrogado por poseer material "incriminatorio", a saber los números de esta revista dedicados a la juventud palestina.
El compañero Saffouri explicó que la revista es publicada por una asociación homónima, que es una organización legal y registrada, y que la revista aparecía legalmente. Pero el oficial de policía insistió en confiscar todos los números de la revista y en a condenar al compañero Saffouri a arresto domiciliario por cinco días, bajo el pretexto de que la policía iba a examinar jurídicamente la revista y su contenido.
El lunes por la mañana, el abogado Wakim Wakim contactó al oficial de policía de Karmiel a fin de conocer los detalles del caso. El oficial le dijo que el contenido de la revista estaba siendo analizado, pero accedió a reducir el periodo de arresto domiciliario a tres días.
La policía de Shafa'Amr había ya arrestado al compañero Saffouri dos semanas antes, acusándolo de recibir en su casa a obreros de Cisjordania. Fue entonces liberado despu鳠de haber pasado la noche en prisión.
Condenamos la detención y el arresto domiciliario del compañero Saffouri, así como la política de persecuciones ejercida contra los compañeros del movimiento Abnaa al-Balad, y rechazamos la política de terror, intimidación y la ausencia de libertad de expresión. Reclamamos que las revistas confiscadas sean devueltas así como el cierre del caso.
Que la policía examine la legalidad de la asociación y de la revista antes de adoptar medidas ilegales que no tienen otra motivación que aterrorizar y suprimir la libertad de expresión.

Le lundi matin, l'avocat Wakim Wakim a contact頬'officier de police de Karma'il pour connae les d鴡ils de l'affaire, l'officier lui a dit que le contenu de la revue est ࠬ'鴵de, mais en rabaissant la dur饠de la d鴥ntion ࠴rois jours.
Egalement, la police de Shafa'Amr avait arr괩 le camarade Jamil Saffouri deux semaines avant, l'accusant de recevoir chez lui des ouvriers de Cisjordanie. Il a ensuite 鴩 rel⣨頡pr賠avoir pass頵ne nuit en prison.
Nous condamnons la d鴥ntion et la d鴥ntion ࠤomicile, ainsi que la politique de poursuites exerc饠contre nos camarades du mouvement Abnaa al-Balad, et nous refusons la politique de terreur, d'intimidation et de d'interdiction de la parole. Nous r飬amons que les revues confisqu饳 soient rendues et la fermeture du dossier.
Que la police examine la l駡lit頤e l'association et celle de la revue, avant de prendre des mesures ill駡les qui n'ont d'autres motivations que la terreur et l'interdiction de s'exprimer librement.

Comrade Rawia Shanty, an inspection committee member, received at thursday, 30/12/2004 an order from the Interior Ministry forbidding her to enter West Bank & Gaza for 6 months for security reasons. It's important to note that comrade Rawia was banned, at August 2004, from visiting Jordan for a year.
Abnaa elBalad Movement condemns such administrative decreeses, which are part of the persecution of Palestinian masses and political activists inside the territories occupied at 1948 in general, and Abnaa elBalad activists especially, such orders are another attack on our democratic rights. We condemn all military & administrative decresses & orders that intend to divide the Palestinian people between the 67 and 48 occupied areas.
