On 4 August 2005, the settler Natan Zada, an Israeli terrorist soldier, opened fire from his automatic rifle on peaceful passengers in a bus in the Galilee town Shefa’amr. Four Palestinians were killed: Sisters students Hazar and Dina Turkey, Mr. Michel Bahus and Mr. Nader Hayek. Many others were injured.
Some of the courageous people that happened to be in the bus succeeded to stop the soldier in their bare hands. Other rushed to the scene of the event in order to prevent the Israeli terrorist from continuing to fire his automatic weapon…
Israeli police and security service did nothing to prevent this massacre, in spite of several direct warnings about the danger of such actions, one of them from the soldier’s mother. Nor did they do anything to investigate or punish any of the accomplices of the killer, or any of those in the security forces whose neglect and refusal to protect Arab lives enabled the massacre.
Now the Israeli police go in Natan Zada’s trail to persecute the inhabitants of Shefa’amr, accusing them for having killed that terrorist. The command of the Israeli racist police revealed his mind by naming the campaign of arrests “unity of fate”.
On Monday 13 June 2006, at 3 AM, big police force invaded the homes of seven Palestinians in Shefa’amr and arrested them, claiming that they caused the death of the terrorist. Among those arrested is our comrade Jameel Saffouri, member of the political bureau of Abnaa elBalad movement.
This campaign of arrests is a continuation of the incessant provocations directed by the Israeli police and other state authorities against the Arab Palestinian masses within the Zionist entity in general, and especially against the leadership and militants of Abnaa elBalad movement. A Zionist police officer openly admitted: “it is true that in this case the police acted according to political directives and considerations.”
The detainees, as well as all those who confronted this terrorist, were acting in self-defense: the defense of the inhabitants of Shefa’amr in particular, and of the Arab Palestinian masses in general. Any citizen of Shefa’amr, as well as any Palestinian city, village or neighborhood, could have been the victim. The arrest and judgment of the Shefa’amr 7 are meant to intimidate the victims from protecting themselves and offering any resistance. It’s a green light for thousands of terrorists like Natan Zada and for all those who want to commit crimes against the Palestinians within the Zionist state.
The Shefa’amr affair is a clear indication of the real dangers faced by the Arab masses in general. The Follow-Up Committee for the Arab masses inside the 1948 occupied Palestine must take up this issue and not leave it to the local popular committee alone. The leaders of the Arab masses must face these dangers and assume their responsibilities: it is a question of our very existence in our own country! Unfortunately, we must say that most of the Arab leaders were absent during the demo on the occasion of the first Haifa court hearings. We hope that this situation will be reversed in the coming days. We must send a clear message that Zionist racism will not prevent us from remaining firmly attached to our homeland and that we are ready to resist.
We will carry the flag of our Palestinian dream until its realization.

On the 13th of June, the Israeli police arrested 7 men from the Palestinian town of Shfa?amer. They are accused of lynching an Israeli soldier.
Last year on the 4th of August, an Israeli soldier, named Eden Natan-Zada boarded bus 165 from Haifa to Shfa?amer. When the bus arrived in Shfa?amer the soldier opened fire. First he killed the driver, Michel Bahut at gunpoint, and then, while he continued shooting, he killed the passengers Nadir Hayak, and the sisters Dina and Hazaar Turkey.
Other passengers tried to grab his gun, but he continued his attack, in which more then 20 passengers were wounded. other Passengers tried to stop him, and very soon, people from Sfha?amer came to the bus and also tried to stop him. The soldier terrorist died in this act of self-defense .
Only now, 10 months later, on the 13th of June, the police arrested 7 men from Shfa?amer.
At the same time the police is persecuting and harassing the entire population of Sfha?amer. This is injustice. This attack was a terrorist attack, the soldier was a terrorist and we, people from Shfa?amer has the right to defend ourselves and our loved ones.

Ten months ago the Zionist terrorist Eden Natan Zada, a member of the ultra-right group Kach, went into a killing spree in the Arab town of Shefaamr (Shfaram in Hebrew) and managed to massacre four Israeli Arabs before being killed by the local population. This week, the Zionist media depict this elementary act of self-defense as a "lynching" and the Israeli police arrested inhabitants of seven inhabitants of Shefaamr as suspects. The inhabitants of Shfaram, with the backing of the High Council of Arabs in Israel, organized a general strike and mass demo calling for the release of the prisoners not to turn the victims into killers. A solidarity vigil has also taken place in front of the court hall in Haifa, where the hearings are taking place.
There was widespread outrage and expressions of solidarity among Arab political organizations. Hadash party (the Communist Party front) MK Mohammad Barakeh said that “the residents of Shfaram protected themselves when they realized that the killer meant to murder more people. Police and the security forces have been searching ever since for an alibi in order to falsify the facts and deny the fact that there has been a massacre in town." MK Ahmad Tibi of the United Arab List-Ta’al party said the arrests “falsely present the terrorist as a victim, and vice-versa. If Zada would be given the chance he would continue his killing spree; I hope the court will prove the suspects acted in self-defense.”
MK Jamal Zahalka (National Democratic Assembly) said after the arrests "they put the blame on the victim, once again. In Shfaram there was vile killer who killed four civilians and the residents protected themselves. Instead of adding insult to injury the police must investigate who the killer's accomplices were and who turned a blind eye." United Arab List-Ta’al Chairman Talab El-Sana said the “the residents of Shfaram fell victim to a terrible massacre due to Israel Police’s failure to protect them and thwart the killer’s plot. Now police are trying to blame the victims.”
Among those arrested was comrade Jameel Safouri, a member of Abnaa el-Ballad's Central Committee. If we remember that both the general secretary and the youth leader of this organization, which calls for an end to partition in Palestine and the return of the refugees, have both been sentenced to long prison sentences, it becomes clear that this is a clear attempt frame up and part of an organized campaign to paralyze the Palestinian left by systematically assassinating or arresting its leaders.
